CRAB MEAT · IN THE FRIDGE
2–4 days
Two to four days refrigerated for fresh crab meat, and fresh lobster gets the same. Live is the sharp exception: USDA gives live crab and lobster one day, and says freezing them live is not recommended.
These are quality windows drawn from published USDA food-safety guidance — an estimate of how long food stays good, not a safety date. If the package carries a printed use-by date, that date governs.

Near the end of the window?
Cooked crab meat is already cooked, so there is no cook-it-now exit here the way there is with chicken — the move is to eat it or freeze it, two to four months.
Crab freezes acceptably but not well; the texture goes stringy on the way back. If you are choosing between eating it tonight at day three and freezing it for later, eat it tonight.

Ranges are as published. Treat the short end as your real window — grocery produce is already days past harvest, and a cooked dish starts its clock at the stove.
Looking up your groceries one at a time is a hobby. A bad one.
Savery scans your grocery receipt and tracks these windows for everything you bought at once. The spinach, the strawberries, the milk you forgot about — all on one shelf.
